For a new installment of the Kantione series, organized by Eleni Poulou, Haus am Waldsee invites the μ Ensemble to a concert evening in the Studio*.

The μ Ensemble works with subtle, intense microtonal drone sounds, generated using analog instruments such as hurdy-gurdies, homemade bagpipes, violas, and wind instruments, as well as electronic sine waves. With the resulting dense acoustic textures, the ensemble explores the interpretation of medieval polyphony, weaving elements of Pérotin's organum compositions and Hildegard von Bingen's antiphonal chants into fluctuating, shimmering masses of sound that atmospherically fill the space.
