Three fascinating singer-songwriters will take the stage this evening as part of the VON LUFT UND LIEDERN series: Felix Meyer, Gerhard Schöne, and Sarah Lesch.

The lyrics of Berlin-based singer-songwriter Felix Meyer celebrate the tenderness of the moment and love, while yearning for greater courage to embrace upheaval and a shift toward radically different paths and ideas. The current album “später noch immer” puts its finger on the wounds of our time.

Gerhard Schöne is one of the very few remaining members of the once-proud and large cohort of East German, multi-award-winning singer-songwriters whose productivity and popularity have remained unbroken even after 1990. He is passionate about concrete issues, delves deeply into them, searching broadly for points of connection and in detail for areas of friction, and then letting his narrative gift—which has few equals in this country—flow into lyrics and songs. Schöne is a master of subtlety who lives his words.

With her five albums and numerous awards (including the 2016 Panikpreis, 2017 Baden-Württemberg Cabaret Award, and the 2023 Lessing Prize of the Free State of Saxony), is one of the most important figures in the new German singer-songwriter scene. The lyrical and subtle songs of this Leipzig-based artist explore the big picture in the small details and observe everyday life and the world from a perspective that is always close to the action and does not shy away from taking a close look even at uncomfortable topics.
