In the noughties, Dota Kehr released under the pseudonym “Die Kleingeldprinzessin”, and in 2003 and 2007 she recorded albums in Brazil in collaboration with Brazilian musicians such as Chico Cesár and Danilo Guilherme. Since 2013 she has been touring and releasing under the name DOTA, which includes her musicians and herself.
Dota Kehr was born in Berlin, where she has always lived - with the exception of a few longer stays in South America.
In 2020 the band released the album “Kaléko” with settings of Mascha Kaléko’s lyrics. “In the Farthest of the Far” was released in June 2023 – another album with Mascha Kaléko settings, with which the band tours large theaters and concert halls.
Some previously unreleased pieces will also be heard in the Tempelhofer Feld castle in the air.
Max Prose is a storyteller. If you listen to him alone on the guitar or piano, you can experience it in its purest form. He plays new and old songs, such as “Flügel”, which was created in 2012, but only reached a wide audience in 2020 through Egon Werler’s interpretation in the casting show “The Voice”.
Also the new “Verschwende Dich”, which was interpreted as the theme song of the film “15 Years” by Hannah Herzsprung and thereby gained greater fame. Behind these successes that are surfacing, Max Prosa has been sitting and working on his texts and songs for years, playing concerts and reading his poems, which he has collected in the new volume of poems “When we were a star image”, the first edition of which was sold out in a very short time .
The readers and listeners become a community; a bell forms around them that expands space and time. Max talks about mothers and sons, kings and thieves and of course about the big themes of the chanson: transience, passion and love. Always in his own way and in a way that touches everyone's heart.
The lyrics of the Berlin songwriter Felix Meyer honor the tenderness of the moment and love and long for more courage to change and change towards revolutionary different paths and ideas.
The current album “later still” puts its finger on the wounds of today and humbly bows to the conditions that have led to us of all people being able to lead this life.
A resourceful journalist once called it “documentary pop music” in the band’s early days. But in addition to the precise observations of the storyteller, who once started his career as a street musician on European intersections and squares, there is also a good deal of serenity, lightness and a fair amount of happiness and contentment. (from the SPV label press release for the album “later still by Felix Meyer & project île).
