Maxim Brandt

The unique artist Maxim Brandt presents new and recent works at his solo exhibition Land of Confusion.

Maxim Brandt's representational painting moves in the borderland of fiction and transports the viewer into an imaginary, fairy-tale world full of dark inconsistencies and contradictions.

Maxim Brandt's works appear romantic, sometimes kitschy and always questioning. Do these worlds really exist? Composed of multiple layers, timelines and stylistic elements, infiltrated by modern memes and emojis as symbols of the digital age, the artist plays with found set pieces and
collages and assembles the elements masterfully in a painterly manner.
The result is a strange, poetic and imaginative world with surreal references and influences. The basis is formed by digital found objects and images, which undergo a further transformation when transferred to the canvas, as the artist creatively alters colours,
shapes and light incidence, as well as the composition itself, during the painting process.

The artist's cosmos reflects today's fast-paced world and the constant influence of information.
