Sources and memories
The event sheds light on the little-known history of French women who were forced to work in Nazi arms production.
In her lecture, Camille Fauroux describes the recruitment of women for labour, their everyday life in Germany and the restrictions imposed on them. She focuses in particular on French women who were imprisoned in the Ravensbrück concentration camp. Fauroux discusses the role of sources and memories as well as today's view of these forced labourers. After the war, they were considered "voluntary" workers. The French public was not interested in their fate.
The event will begin with an overview presentation by Roland Borchers on forced labour in Berlin.
