Beethovens 5. und Karneval der Tiere

The Leipzig Philharmonic presents Beethoven's Symphony No. 5 and "Carnival of the Animals" at the Berlin Philharmonie.

Two milestones of music history converge this evening. Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, one of the most famous works of the Classical era, will be performed—a musical symbol of struggle, hope, and triumph, translating existential questions into sound with unparalleled intensity.

A lighthearted counterpoint is provided by Camille Saint-Saëns' "Carnival of the Animals," a work of particular charm and subtle humor. In his Grande fantaisie zoologique, Saint-Saëns parodies popular melodies, compositions primarily by his French contemporaries, and his own Danse macabre, weaving together playful musical tales. An evening of music poignantly poignant and playfully imaginative.
