Ensemble1800berlin is returning to Klassik in Spandau for the sixth time – this time with Beethoven's Symphony No. 7 in a chamber music arrangement for piano, flute, violin, and cello. Chamber music versions were very popular in Beethoven's time and often the only way to hear his works in bourgeois or aristocratic salons.
Ensemble1800berlin specializes in these highly virtuosic arrangements and performs them on period instruments. A particular highlight: an original grand piano by the Viennese piano maker Conrad Graf, which Beethoven himself favored.
The concert begins with the overture to Beethoven's ballet "The Creatures of Prometheus," followed by a short lecture by Dr. Andrea Klitzing and the final movement of the "Eroica." An extraordinary concert that offers a fresh perspective on Beethoven's music and promises a unique musical experience.
