“East Asia flourished in Berlin. The ever-growing circle of collectors met in the ‘Society for East Asian Art’, which organized lecture evenings and exhibitions,” wrote Leopold Reidemeister, formerly curator of the East Asian art collection of the National Museums in Berlin, looking back in 1987.
