#Logoskop thirty-nine. Poetry and Science with Meike Harms, Björn Högsdal and Bas Böttcher

This time, slam poets Meike Harms and Björn Högsdal will be joining us. Together, they will comment on the exhibition ‘On Water’ with live recitations. Visitors are invited to accompany them on their tour of eloquence. Curated by Bas Böttcher

Meike Harms is a stage poet, presenter and poetry teacher from the outback of Munich. As a poet, she travels throughout the German-speaking world. Her texts combine verbal acrobatics with social criticism and love to seek out humour in the seriousness of life. In 2023, she was the German-speaking runner-up in the Poetry Slam, and in 2014 she was the Bavarian champion.
She leads creative writing projects for people of all ages, trains teachers, teaches creative writing at universities and is active in poetry education. She also likes bicycles and enjoys carrying heavy backpacks through the vastness of Scandinavia.

Björn Högsdal is a legend of poetry slam. He writes punchline prose, cabaret-style poetry and satires – texts that illuminate the absurdity of everyday life as well as the everyday nature of the absurd. His style: literatainment. Dark humour, pointed, audience-friendly, highly stage-worthy and occasionally with a shock effect.
He has won various literary competitions and countless poetry slams in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. He has reached the semi-finals and finals of the German-language championships several times. For many years, he has been one of the best-known stage poets in the entire German-speaking world and has toured numerous European countries. He has gained nationwide recognition as an author (Carlsen Verlag, Satyr, Lichtungen, etc.) and as a writer for the satirical magazine Titanic. TV appearances such as the WDR Poetry Slam, Sarah Kuttner's Slamtour on Sat1Comedy and the NDR Comedy Contest have made him known to a wide audience.
