NoonSong - Song & Prayer

On the
first weekend of Lent, psalms set to music by early Baroque German composers
will be performed. As emotive as madrigals, they express a longing for
redemption and hope that is more relevant than ever.

Liturgie: Invokavit

  • Preces: Kenneth Leighton (1929-1988): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: 42b Johann Hermann Schein (1586-1630): Was betrübst Du Dich, meine Seele
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 91 Melchior Franck (1579-1639): Wer unter dem Schirm des Höchsten sitzt
  • Canticum: Michael Haydn (1737-1806): Christus factus est
  • Choral: Melchior Vulpius (1570-1615): Ach, bleib mit deiner Gnade

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music fans and architecture enthusiasts gather for NoonSong. It is both a concert and a church service, developed from Anglican Evensong. Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin perform choral music under the direction of Stefan Schuck. The repertoire ranges from Renaissance music to contemporary compositions.
