The new program of the Berlin Vocaphonists

In their new revue, the ensemble presents film hits, couplets, and swing melodies from the rich repertoire of this legendary era. Well-known artists such as the Comedian Harmonists, Heymann, Hollaender, Brecht, and Weill are featured, as are Oscar Straus and Paul Abraham, considered co-founders of the Berlin jazz operetta.

The Weintraub Syncopators are also included. Stefan Weintraub and his band were the first German jazz band of international renown. In the 1930s, their tours took them throughout Europe, to the Soviet Union, and even to Japan and Australia!

The Berlin Vocabulary Choir accompanies these artists from Berlin into exile in America and back to Germany, exploring how their music evolved in the New World after their expulsion from Germany.

An entertaining evening with enchanting melodies from operetta, cabaret, theater, Hollywood, and Broadway.

The theater opens at 6:30 p.m.
