Polyphonic Encounters concert series

Since mid-March 2025, the Phantasm Viol Consort has been presenting its own concert series at St. Elisabeth Church in Berlin-Mitte. The concerts are dedicated entirely to polyphony, each focusing on a composer who excelled in this compositional technique.

The concerts of the 2025/26 season offer Berlin audiences the opportunity to explore new compositional territory – the works of the English composers Henry Purcell and William Lawes are famous in their homeland, but little known on the European mainland.

In the third concert, Phantasm celebrates one of Britain's most celebrated composers: Henry Purcell, the Orpheus Britannicus, who, at the age of twenty, revived the supposedly outdated compositional technique.

Following the concert, the ensemble invites you to the traditional reception (all attendees receive a complimentary drink) at the bar and a book presentation:

In December, Parsifal's Seduction, a novel by Laurence Dreyfus about the Brahms and Wagner conductor Hermann Levi, was published. The original English version, which appeared in German translation as Parsifals Verführung 2022, is being released in a limited edition, illustrated with artwork by Alexander Polzin.
