On the evening of the Sunday of the Dead, November 23, 2025, Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater will be performed in Trinity Church.
Malte Mevissen, known for his organ playing at church services and the midday concerts at the Open Church, is bringing together fellow musicians for this performance.
The Stabat Mater in F minor (PayP 77) is a setting of the medieval poem of the same name for alto, soprano, strings, and basso continuo. The poem describes the Virgin Mary's grief over the crucified Jesus. This is the Italian composer's most famous sacred work and was composed in 1736, just weeks before Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's death.
Admission is free.
