The new reality of the media world
After Russia launched its war of aggression against Ukraine in 2022, many Russian journalists – and entire editorial teams – were forced to leave the country and continue their work in exile.
Many of them travelled to Georgia and Armenia – their portraits can be seen in the exhibition. Some later moved on to other countries. In this event, journalist Angelina Davydova, who now lives in Berlin and was part of Frank Gaudlitz's research team, and Marian Vogel from Media in Cooperation and Transition (MiCT) will talk about the lives and work of journalists in exile: What is their everyday life like? What conditions and obstacles do they face? What role does exile journalism play in times of war, repression and global reporting?
