The photographic estate of Fide Struck (1928-1941)
Fide Struck's photographs complement the photographic canon of the 1930s and reveal how politics intrudes upon the private sphere. Fide, born in 1901 into a working-class background in Hamburg, was an employee, photographer, lover, freethinker, and witness to the upheavals of the 20th century.
A slide presentation by Thomas Struck
In 1941, he packed 3,000 negatives into a wooden suitcase. His youngest son, Thomas, opened the suitcase 74 years later and explored the collection. In his slide presentation, we experience peaceful times in a militant environment.
Admission and participation are free.
