Kazuko Miyamoto's String Constructions. The workshop is led by KW mediator Kerri Fitzsimons together with guest artist Sarah Butler.
The workshop is divided into two parts: First, the group is guided through the exhibition spaces to become familiar with Miyamoto's works. In the second part, the exhibition is explored through movement in the mediation room, creating a personal, embodied response to the artworks. Repeatable yet unique gestures reflect the complex forms of Miyamoto's sculptures, which address concepts of collectivity, liveliness, and temporality.
The goal of the workshop is to experience presence in space and the collective experience.
Kerri Fitzsimons, a Berlin-based performance artist, educator, and yoga teacher, focuses on accessible mediation and personal interpretation in her work to question exclusivity in art. Her performances are based on stories that are aesthetically surprising yet accessible.
Sarah Gordon Butler works interdisciplinary, encompassing movement, theater, film, wearable structures, embroidery, and song. She explores how interweaving seemingly disparate media can lead to surprising and honest artistic outcomes.
