With String Constructions, KW is presenting the first institutional solo exhibition in Germany by Japanese artist Kazuko Miyamoto (*1942, JP). Miyamoto, a central figure in New York's post-minimalist and feminist art scene, has lived there since 1964.
The exhibition spans several floors of KW and is dedicated to her eponymous sculpture series from the 1970s and 1980s. The delicate works, crafted from cotton thread, are created through a precise manual process of marking, nailing, knotting, and linking – a poetic interplay of structure, space, and transience.
