The winners of the Berlin Publishing Prize will be announced on 9 November 2025 at the Deutsches Theater Berlin.
The ceremony, which will honour independent publishers who contribute to the diversity and quality of the German-language literary landscape with their programmes, will begin at 11 a.m.
This year's shortlist includes BeBra Verlag, Das Gramm, Favoriten Presse, Kraus Verlag, März Verlag and Shift Books. The Grand Berlin Publishing Prize (€26,000) and two further awards of €15,000 each will be presented. Knut Elstermann will host the event, introducing the nominated publishers in conversation before the jury announces the winners.
Sponsored by the State of Berlin and the Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels Landesverband Berlin-Brandenburg (Berlin-Brandenburg Regional Association of the German Publishers and Booksellers Association), the Berlin Publishing Prize highlights the cultural and journalistic significance of independent publishers. This year's jury consists of Philipp Böhm, Nadia Budde, Leif Greinus, Shelly Kupferberg, Janin Präßler and Kurt von Hammerstein.
