A journey through time from 1940 to today

He IS "Modern Soul"! Fans followed the band up and down the country—who would want to miss a Modern Soul concert? From the GDR, the band made international music history. Modern Soul recently celebrated its 55th anniversary.

Colleagues, fans, and friends persuaded Hugo Laartz, bandleader and "keyboard workhorse," to pen his very personal commentary on this success story. And he did so—"before it's too late"—and presents here the chronicle of his life for soul music.

Uneitel recounts how his colleagues in the music scene know him—Uschi Brüning, Regine Dobberschütz, Klaus Lenz, to name just a few. At heart, he remains the post-war Berlin rascal—straightforward and down-to-earth. This awakens in the reader an unexpected sympathy for vanished worlds where the sound of blues, rock, and soul breathed hope for humanity, love, and respect into people's hearts, even behind walls.

  • Moderation: Jörg Stempel
  • Musical accompaniment: Uschi Brüning (vocals), Dirk Lorenz (vocals), Peter Pabst (guitar), Ferry Grott (timpani), Tobias Unterberg (cello)

The event is supported by Rabenhaus e.V. - socio-cultural projects and Kunsthof Köpenick e.V.
