The fall of the Wall and reunification from the perspective of migration

The third episode of the Erzählsalon Migration deals with the "racist turn" in the 1990s and the stories of migrants from East and West after decades of division of the city.

The guests Patrice Poutrus (historian) and Lucia Muríel (psychologist) look back on a time between hope and uncertainty and on their experiences of exclusion, racism and social upheaval. Filmmaker Diane Izabiliza will talk about her film "The Wall fell on our heads", for which she interviewed migrant women from East and West Germany who experienced the fall of the Wall.

The audience is invited to bring their own memorabilia. Afterwards, everyone can continue to chat over cold drinks and snacks and look at the items they brought together.

The Migration Storytelling Salon

With the "Erzählsalon Migration", the Stadtmuseum Berlin offers a quarterly series of events. In it, actors from migrant and diasporic communities share their stories of migration and resistance. In the spirit of storytelling and oral history, the aim is to share everyday stories from the perspective of migration. The setting is informal: participants share experiences, present photo albums, music or videos that accompany their story(s). Visitors are invited to bring their own objects, photos or documents.
