Women over 40 are supposedly less visible: structurally, politically, sexually. To prepare for this approaching stage of life, hannsjana meets a group of women who cleverly use their invisibility to their own advantage – selfishly, uninhibitedly, or simply criminally. For the mockumentary-style short film, the protagonist uses a female gaze neutral density filter to portray them.

As women and performers in their late 30s, hannsjana face impending invisibility. But perhaps there is still hope? What if female invisibility could be subversively appropriated?

The protagonist finds the prospects bleak. She sees age discrimination, which affects women more severely, beauty standards linked to fertility, lower pensions, and poverty in old age. She laments the underrepresentation in media, art, and politics and fears that this inequality hits female artists particularly hard.

Thanks to a video technology innovation, she is able to make invisible women visible. But what she gets to see radically contradicts her bleak future prospects.
