CameraD,
founded in 2013, is an association of nine photographers—former
students of the Ostkreuz School of Photography and Design and the New
School of Photography Berlin, as well as freelance artists.

The collective develops concepts for projects and exhibitions in which different visual languages and collective ideas converge. Between individual themes and shared approaches, a series of independent works was created in 2019 to mark the 100th anniversary of Rosa Luxemburg, in which each photographer addressed the theme with their own visual language.

In 2022, the collective devoted itself to another common theme: “Colors.” For the first time, the upcoming exhibition will focus not on a theme, but on the image format. The oval shape connects the works and at the same time opens up a variety of possibilities for individual positions and series.

Oval” invites viewers to experience a new dimension of seeing: it breaks with the rigidity of the right angle, is reminiscent of a peephole, and creates an intimate connection between the viewer and the image. At the same time, the shape resonates with timeless symbolism—the egg as the origin of life. Thus, the oval becomes a vehicle for a dialogue between past and present, placing the images in an exciting context.
