Leon Gurvitch

On Saturday, November 15th at 6:00 PM, Leon Gurvitch's chamber opera "Charms" will celebrate its Berlin premiere at the Kühlhaus – following completely sold-out performances at the Opera Stabile of the Hamburg State Opera and the Theater Lübeck.

Leon Gurvitch, the internationally acclaimed pianist and composer, known from stages such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Berlin Philharmonic, the Gewandhaus Leipzig, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, brings the absurd and poetic world of Daniil Charms (1905–1942) to life with this comic chamber opera.

With a lively blend of singing, acting, and chamber music (piano, violin, clarinet, saxophone), Gurvitch unfolds a musical production full of humor, lightness, and tragedy.

At his side is the charismatic singer and actress Svetlana Mamresheva (Kirill Serebrennikov & Friends, Thalia Theater Hamburg, among others), who interprets Kharms' quirky lyrics with brilliance and intensity.
