The lifestyles of Generation Z
On 23 October, the Humanist Academy Berlin-Brandenburg will explore questions of identity, social belonging, and the evolution of social relationships through a variety of programmes.
The afternoon will open with two parallel workshops:
In the dance and movement workshop, 'Behind the Box – Between Conformity and Being Yourself', Tea Kolbe will invite participants to physically explore social expectations, role models, and their own positioning.
At the same time, the social media workshop 'TikTok against diversity?' (TikTok against diversity?), Karl Eckardt will analyse anti-democratic narratives on digital platforms, questioning the mechanisms behind current enemy stereotype constructions — a discourse that is becoming increasingly relevant, especially given the influence of the media on political opinion formation.
The evening will begin with a keynote speech by Ole Liebl, author of Loving Friends: Between Closeness and Freedom. He will propose a reassessment of friendship in the context of intimacy and non-commitment. Representatives from civil society, academia, and religion will then join the audience for a discussion about alternative relationship models today and what they reveal about social norms and individual needs.
This event is being organised in partnership with the Young Forum of Religions, the Humanist University, and the Humanism Foundation, and is sponsored by the Senate Department for Culture and Social Cohesion.
