Three have found each other: a singer-songwriter and two seasoned musicians from Halle an der Saale. Instead of verbal wisdom, the “Wise Old Men” – double bassist Akki Schulz and guitarist Michael Proschek – present their experienced instruments and provide multi-stringed accompaniment to the lyrical-poetic songs of Anna Maria Zinke.

When three fundamentally different people – both musically and in their view of the world – stand together on stage and enrich each other, a charming evening full of music emerges, with occasional frictional tensions that discharge as humorous, spontaneous interludes between the contemplative songs.

The differences are audible. Unconventional arrangements reveal a joy of musical travel and a folk-lyrical, idiosyncratic songwriting style. The mostly German-language songs muse at deep red traffic lights, take off into the universe of circling planets, linger in evening café bars, and always want to head to the sea to lose themselves dreamily and instrumentally on the horizon. And when they encounter a Gundermann or Rio Reiser along the way, they are promptly invited on board. The trio rarely travels straight ahead and yet always stays on course.

On this journey, the music wraps itself like a weather mood around everything that is there – including the audience.
