Performance. Premiere by Romuald Krężel in the frame oe Fold: Energie der Erzählungen
In his new choreographic work, Romuald Krężel brings together two areas of his previous artistic and research practices: ecological and class discourse.
"Guilty Pleasures" takes a critical look at climate policy strategies of recent decades, such as carbon debt and flight shaming, which are influenced by affective dimensions of guilt and desire.
By addressing the often overlooked perspectives and needs of the working class, especially those employed in the energy sector, the performance searches for a common ground upon which a climate movement for the many can grow.
"Guilty Pleasures" juxtaposes the political and poetic aspects of energy. Channeled through electric guitars, energy takes on a tangible, material presence, raising questions: Where does power come from? The power that keeps lights shining? The power to transform systems?
