Modalities of Me

At its core are five figures who do not appear as classical characters, but rather embody different states of being: power, chaos, duplicity, fragility, and savagery.


Instead of a linear plot, a web of encounters unfolds – between the figures themselves, the installation, and the architecture of the space.


The dance takes place in an expansive installation by the Swiss collective Encor Studio, which merges choreography and spatial design into an inseparable whole.


Modalities of Me is a multisensory dance performance that explores how modern forms of love and desire are shaped—and often distorted—by the spaces in which people move:

digital spheres, club culture, curated identities, hypercapitalist structures.


The piece questions how intimacy changes under pressure, how people stage, consume, commercialize, and sometimes destroy it—and invites the audience to reconsider closeness as something both fragile and impermanent.


The opening piece is a solo by Tess Voelker, a former dancer with the Nederlands Dans Theater. It functions like an autobiographical sketch: a search for presence and memory that embodies the attitude of making the most of little.


Encor Studio's 25 by 30-meter window installation combines glass, sunlight, and electrochromic films that react to their surroundings in real time, constantly creating new atmospheres. Known for combining materiality and responsive technology, Encor creates a transformative, site-specific work that is absorbed by the dancers and translated into movement—a reflection of contemporary social and emotional dynamics.


The choreography is by Soraya Schulthess, founder of DANCÆ, and Renato De Leon, co-director and co-founder of Ballet Sur_real.


Electronic music, a specially developed lighting and spatial concept, and the symbiotic fusion of dance, installation, and sound draw the audience into an immersive world that offers a unique performance experience.
