NoonSong - Song & Prayer

This
NoonSong features one of the most famous works of early Baroque Italian vocal
music, the seven-part "Lauda Jerusalem" from Claudio Monteverdi's
"Vespers of the Virgin Mary".

The Venetian master groups two agile and lively three-part choirs around the tenor, who stoically recites the psalm in a church tone. The other main works of this NoonSong also take us back to early Baroque Italy, including Allegri's eight-part Magnificat.

Liturgie: 12. Sonntag nach Trinitatis

  • Preces: Richard Ayleward (1626-1669): Preces & Responses
  • Tagespsalm: Psalm 41 Felice Anerio (ca. 1560-1614): Ego dixi Domine
  • Wochenpsalm: Psalm 147 Claudio Monteverdi (1567-1643): Lauda Jerusalem
  • Canticum: Gregorio Allegri (1582-1652): Magnificat
  • Choral: Hans Leo Haßler (1564-1612): Nun lob mein Seel den Herren

NoonSong - what's that?

Every Saturday at noon, locals, visitors to Berlin, music fans and architecture enthusiasts gather for NoonSong. It is both a concert and a church service, developed from Anglican Evensong. Eight professional singers from the vocal ensemble sirventes berlin perform choral music under the direction of Stefan Schuck. The repertoire ranges from Renaissance music to contemporary compositions.
