Since the 1970s, Uschi Brüning has been considered the leading jazz singer in eastern Germany, achieving her breakthrough with the song "Dein Name" (Your Name) in 1972.
To this day, her repertoire ranges from literary chansons to blues, gospel, swing standards, and improvisation in modern jazz—an extraordinary vocal, musical, and spoken-word performance of the highest order, unparalleled anywhere in the world.
She has performed on stages around the world with international projects and her own bands. These projects include the European Jazz Ensemble, Georgie Fame, and Manfred Krug. She masters an enormously broad spectrum, from pop to free jazz.
She began her musical career as a guitarist in amateur bands. While training to become a judicial officer, she turned professional in 1970. She first became known to a wider audience through a tour with Manfred Krug and the Klaus Lenz Big Band in 1971. In 1975, she founded her own band. Over the years, she has collaborated with Eberhard Weise, Günther Fischer, Ernst-Ludwig Petrowsky, and many other composers and artists, resulting in numerous recordings.
Christian von der Goltz is a well-known jazz pianist on the German jazz scene, distinguished by his sensitive accompaniment and consistently strong sense of swing. He has released three CDs of his own compositions with his trio and one with his sextet "cvdg projekt," for which he also composes. He has also appeared on numerous releases and has performed on stage or in the studio with countless well-known artists, including Uschi Brüning, Till Brönner, Günter Fischer, Luten Petrowski, Ruth Homann, Katharina Thalbach, Atrin Madani, Lisa Bassenge, and many others.
He has been playing with Uschi Brüning for several years in a program that ranges from intimate jazz ballads to impulsive gospel and soul numbers.
The theater opens at 6:30 p.m.
