Blackhaine is a British artist whose radical approach to drill, noise, and performance finds expression in choreography and immersive audiovisual installations. He works as a creative director and stage designer.
Shaped by the urban north of England and inspired by the Theatre of Cruelty, his physically intense performances unfold a hybrid dramaturgy of voice, movement, and scenography—uncompromising, powerful, and deeply confrontational.
Each of Blackhaine's live performances is unique: a physically demanding deconstruction of his previous work, situated between noise, punk, ambient, avant-dance, and poetry. He approaches nihilism not with resignation, but with methodical precision, artistic versatility, and radical honesty.
His works have been shown at venues including the Venice Biennale, Tate Modern, Sonar, Dark Mofo, and Berlin Atonal. With his project "CONSUMER," he continues his recent site-specific performances – now in the sculpture garden of the Neue Nationalgalerie.
Loraine James – not Lorraine James, Loraine Jones, or any other misspelling – is one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary experimental electronic music. Growing up on the Alma Estate in North London, she developed her own musical language early on, shaped by the diverse influences of her surroundings: emo, math rock, R&B, drill, IDM – and a maternal record collection ranging from calypso to metal.
Her albums "For You & I" (2019), "Reflection" (2021), and most recently "Gentle Confrontation" (2023) have been released and received international recognition for their radical intimacy and perspective – as a queer, Black, British artist with an inexhaustible desire for experimentation.
James also explores alternative paths as Whatever The Weather, for example with ambient-inspired releases. In their live sets, digital precision meets emotional depth – oscillating between delicate fragments and rhythmic density, between retrospective and present.
