Unsex Me Here
“Unsex Me Here“ is a work in progress exploring the figures of the queen and the witch in the Western historical imagination, as well as in the queer and now.
Drag queen and choreographer Olympia Bukkakis and dancer and choreographer Maria F. Scaroni have spent three weeks in Grüntaler 9 developing a duet that draws on their own lived experiences as well as their joint practice of drag somatics.
Various queens and witches fall outside normative heterosexual reproduction, begging the question: if people are not reproducing, what are they multiplying? In “Unsex Me Here“ trans femmes meet sages-femmes, the perimenopausal become seriously regal bitches, and voiceless queens make themselves heard.

Maria F. Scaroni (she/her) is dance artist, educator & community organizer, freelancing in Berlin since 2004. She crossbreeds somatic practices and post-modern dance legacies with anti-oppression frameworks, queer healing, improvisation and choreography.
