After its premiere in 1836, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy's oratorio Paulus quickly became one of the most popular works of Romantic choral symphony. Following in the tradition of Bach and Handel, it is distinguished by its own unique musical language.

A flowing combination of recitatives, arias, dramatic choral fugues, and contemplative chorales creates a thrilling musical and dramatic arc. The story centers on the transformation of Saul into the Apostle Paul, who, after a profound crisis, finds Christianity. The work ends with a universal message of transformation and hope.

The Neue Chor Alt-Schöneberg performs this powerful oratorio together with the Cantorey Salzburg, thus continuing their highly successful collaboration. Audiences can once again expect an overwhelming choral sound that will fill every corner of the church.
