Book premiere with Yasmine M'Barek

Author, journalist and podcaster Yasmine M'Barek reads from her new book "I feel you - Über Empathie".

Empathy is considered the highest art of togetherness. Nevertheless, it seems to have been lost in the current culture of debate. In the digital survival of the fittest, everyone is concerned with everything, but primarily with themselves; opinions become absolute.

In I FEEL YOU, Yasmine M'Barek explains why we need to learn to be empathetic again - or at least need more empathetic egoists. From relatable content on Instagram to the connection between empathy and capitalism to the question of what Taylor Swift has to do with the death of criticism. With sharpness, humor and analytical clarity, Yasmine M'Barek pleads for a social rediscovery of empathy - politically, privately and in pop culture.

The evening will be hosted by screenwriter and essayist Anne Rabe.

Yasmine M'Barek, born in 1999, is a journalist, podcaster and author. She attended the Cologne School of Journalism and is an editor at ZEIT Online. She is a regular guest on political talk shows and hosts the ZEIT podcast "Ehrlich jetzt?". Yasmine M'Barek lives in Cologne and Berlin.
