Philharmonischer Chor Berlin, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Florian Benfer, Solisten N.N.

Florian Benfer, who hails from Sweden, a country renowned for its choral music, will take over as artistic director of the Philharmonic Choir and will open his first season with this concert.

The program will kick off with a program entirely dedicated to the French repertoire: psalm settings by the highly talented, prematurely deceased Lili Boulanger (Du fond de l'abîme, La terre appartient à l'Éternel) and her teacher Gabriel Fauré (Super flumina Babylonis).

The focus of the evening will be Fauré's famous Requiem – a work of touching intimacy that treats the subject of death not as a threat, but as a peaceful transition into paradise. Hardly any other requiem in music history treats the afterlife with such reconciliation and hope.

Works performed:

Lili Boulanger: “Du Fond de l’Abîme” (Psalm 130)
Lili Boulanger: Psalm 24
Gabriel Fauré: “Super flumina babylonis” (Psalm 136)
Gabriel Fauré: Requiem op. 48
