Dokumentarfilm über Nadia Boulanger von Bruno Monsaingeon (1977)

Nadia Boulanger was the most important composition teacher of the 20th century; perhaps it would be more accurate to say music teacher, since her pedagogical credo was "to understand others" and "to encourage students to express themselves."

From the age of 16 to her advanced years, she is said to have taught more than 1,000 students. The violinist, writer, and filmmaker Bruno Monsaingeon, who later became known for documentaries on Glenn Gould and Sviatoslav Richter, among others, observed Nadia Boulanger teaching and released this film in 1977, on the occasion of her 90th birthday. Igor Markévitch and Leonard Bernstein also share their memories of "Mademoiselle."
