When the Poems Do What They Do

Aja Monet moves with ease between different forms of expression – as a poet, singer, and activist, she combines political urgency with spiritual self-reflection. For her debut at the Pierre Boulez Saal, she invites the audience to an intimate, two-part evening of sound and word.

In the first part, in a stripped-down, concentrated atmosphere, she presents new and previously unpublished texts from her current project, as well as selected poems from her book Florida Water.

In the second set, she is accompanied by her band and performs pieces from her critically acclaimed album When the Poems Do What They Do.
