The Purist up north

Located in the north of Berlin, the World Heritage estate was built in 1929-31 as a collaboration between four planners. With its clear and angular architecture, it corresponds most closely to the typical image of the classic “white” modernism often associated with the Bauhaus of all the World Heritage estates.

But if you take a closer look, you will also discover many skillfully placed colorful details. The two central landmarks of the White City - the gate buildings and the bridge house - stage progress in line with the automotive perspective. It is also remarkable how much emphasis was placed on infrastructure and hygiene.
