As part of the Turkish-German Theatre Festival 2024

The NSU trial is one of the most complex trials in recent German history. The NSU's sad record: bomb attacks, robberies, murders - including nine people of Turkish, Kurdish and Greek origin. Although the years-long trial into the series of murders committed by the right-wing extremist terrorist cell has come to a legally binding conclusion, there is still the impression that much remains incomplete.

The trial reveals frightening insights into the failure of the authorities. For years, the victims with a migration background were accused of being involved in the offences. At the same time, almost all officials involved in the case ruled out a right-wing extremist background for the perpetrators. What would have happened if the victims had had German names and the perpetrators non-German names?

The reason for us to stage a play like this is to ensure that nothing is forgotten. The play should remind us of what is still latently present: the radical terror from the right. The ensemble brings the facts and reality to our attention to shake us awake. This play wants to be a wake-up call that these atrocious acts still exist underground. It is bitter, at times ridiculous and reaches the dimension of the grotesque.
