From nuclear fission to modern genetics: Berlin-Dahlem is a cradle of modern research. The Kaiser Wilhelm Society (KWG) founded its first institutes in Dahlem in 1912, into which the Free University moved after the Second World War. Others are used by the Max Planck Society as the successor to the KWG. Many anecdotes surround the legendary research campus, the “German Oxford”.

The overview tour not only takes you to buildings and highlights in the history of science, but also invites you to discuss how history can be reinterpreted. What is fake - what is fact about the anecdotes about the Dahlem Campus? From nuclear fission to modern genetics, scientific and contemporary history was written here, and outstanding personalities such as Albert Einstein, Lise Meitner, Fritz Haber and Otto Hahn lived and researched in Dahlem.
