Messiah is G. F. Handel's best-known work today. Often performed by Handel himself, it is the perfect work to bring together people who love singing for a common musical goal.

Together with guest singers and the festival choir founded to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Lehnin Summer Music Festival, as well as renowned soloists and the Ensemble Berlin Baroque, Handel's work will be performed in the atmospheric setting of Lehnin Abbey Church. Choir rehearsals will take place on August 30, 2025, and on August 5 and 6, 2025.

Handel's Messiah describes the life of Jesus – beginning with the Old Testament prophecy of his birth, through his death on the cross, and ending with the vision of his return. Although Jesus' life is described exclusively in the New Testament, the oratorio text draws primarily on the Old Testament.

An abridged version lasting approximately two hours will be presented.
