The Ballery presents We Met in Summer | I Might Have Burned Myself, a high-calibre group exhibition curated from the collection of Swiss collector Marco Habrik. On display are works from four decades by internationally renowned photographers such as Wolfgang Tillmans, Walter Pfeiffer, Herbert List, Jack Pierson, David Armstrong, Greg Gorman, Bruce Weber, Ryan McGinley and Anthony Goicolea. The selection is inspired by a personal love story that began on a summer's day in 1994 on Lake Zurich.

The exhibition is complemented by new works by Zurich artist Arthur Heck, whose series I Might Have Burned Myself is being shown publicly for the first time. Heck's works capture fleeting, intimate moments that oscillate between desire, vulnerability and loss – a reflection on closeness in a fragile world.

About the Marco Habrik Collection:

Habrik has been collecting international photography since 2000 and supports young artists, especially from Switzerland, in their first exhibitions in Berlin – including at The Ballery.

About Arthur Heck:

Born in Strasbourg in 2000, the artist lives in Zurich and graduated with distinction from the ZHdK in 2024. His works explore a newly invented intimacy in the face of social and ecological upheaval.

About The Ballery:

Since 2014, The Ballery has seen itself as a platform for queer, subcultural and independent artistic positions outside the mainstream, with exhibitions by artists such as Tom of Finland, Slava Mogutin, Rinaldo Hopf and Rosa von Praunheim.
