The Gesellschaft Naturforschender Freunde zu Berlin and the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin invite you to the Walther Arndt Lecture.

Prof. Martin Wikelski (Director of the Max Planck Institute of Animal Behavior in Constance and Radolfzell and Professor at the University of Constance) will speak on the topic: "The Internet of Animals"

The Internet of Animals

The collective wisdom of the world's animals represents an immense treasure trove of unprecedented information for mankind. The "Internet of Animals" can help us to predict natural disasters, forecast the global spread of zoonoses or secure food resources.

The developed senses of animals and technical sensors on tracking transmitters worn by animals enable local earth observations with the highest spatial and temporal resolution. To protect and understand the ecosystem services provided by animals, people need to seamlessly monitor individual animals on a global scale.

At the same time, this unprecedented data on the life history of individual wildlife provides deep, new insights into fundamental biological processes.
