Democracies in Eastern Europe

In times of war, threatened democracies, and eroding Western alliances, civil society efforts and resistance are taking place in Eastern Europe to defend the democratic order.

Stuart Hall wrote that culture is not a way of being, but a path to achieving a more just society together and in spite of others. The same applies to democracies. In Ukraine, freedom and the future are being defended with life. In Serbia, a young generation has been protesting for justice for months. In Poland, the anti-democrats were voted out of office in free elections.

They discuss democratic values, the price of freedom, acting in solidarity, the defense of democracies, and their future with intellectuals from the East.
