„Teach me!“ – The Students of Nadia Boulanger
"Living in music is such a source of joy for me," Nadia Boulanger admitted in retrospect, "that I have tried to share this joy in my teaching..." And even though this joy was often accompanied by great rigor, she was also concerned with encouragement:
"You need a fixed language, and then, within this language, the freedom to be yourself... To be yourself, that in itself is something of genius."
Of the many composers Nadia Boulanger has taken under her wing over the course of her long life, six are featured in this varied program – from the neoclassicism of Jean Françaix to the minimalist works of Philip Glass to the film music of jazz great Quincy Jones.
