For his debut at the Pierre Boulez Saal, Shabaka will be on stage with the ensemble Hand to Earth – a quintet that already thrilled audiences with an impressive concert in 2022. The project was initiated by Daniel Wilfred, custodian of the 40,000-year-old Yolngu vocal tradition from Northern Australia, and Korean singer Sunny Kim.
The ensemble is complemented by trumpeter and composer Peter Knight, didgeridoo player David Wilfred, and clarinetist Aviva Endean. Together, the six musicians create a fascinating musical cosmos from ancient traditions and contemporary sounds.
