Eine Hommage an Margot Friedländer

At the initiative of Michel Friedman and Igor Levit, the Berliner Ensemble is hosting a memorial event for Margot Friedländer on July 12 at 8:00 p.m. entitled "Be Human."

Numerous companions, including Matthias Brandt, Guy Braunstein, Michel Friedman, Sophie Hunger, Barrie Kosky, Igor Levit, Katharine Mehrling, Anne-Sophie Mutter, Natalia Wörner, and others, will honor Margot Friedländer and her life's work with music and texts.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Margot Friedländer Foundation.

On May 9, Margot Friedländer died in Berlin at the age of 103 – and with her, not only one of the last survivors of the Holocaust, but also one of Germany's greatest campaigners against anti-Semitism and one of its most important enlighteners and reconciliators.

After returning to her hometown of Berlin from exile in the United States, she tirelessly urged: "Be human!" Again and again: "Be human."

Advance ticket sales begin on June 3 at 10:00 a.m.

"Margot was a wonderful human being. I see it as my daily obligation to carry on her message and work for her ideals."
Igor Levit

"They exist—role models! Margot Friedländer was and is a role model. For humanity. For curiosity. For understanding. For tolerance. For compassion. To honor her and commemorate her spirit so that her values, her view of the world and humanity, are passed on is an honor."
Michel Friedman
