At the invitation of the Berlin Philharmonic

The trauma of the Thirty Years’ War was still palpable in the late 17th century: life could end abruptly and unexpectedly. Responding to these fears, composers created comforting, meditative, and spiritual music.

The ensemble Pygmalion and its founder Raphaël Pichon immerse us in this sound world with their programme Good Night, World.

Featuring sacred music by Dieterich Buxtehude, Philipp Heinrich Erlebach, Nicolaus Bruhns, and members of the Bach family, the works evoke sorrow, pain, and hope in the Baroque age.
