Charles-Marie Widor was a French composer, organist and teacher who is considered one of the most important representatives of romantic organ music. He is particularly well-known for his ten organ symphonies. Widor revolutionized organ music by transferring symphonic structures to the organ and exploiting the full tonal potential of romantic organs. As organist at the Saint-Sulpice church in Paris, he shaped the French organ repertoire and influenced generations of organists.

During the organ expeditions in the Sophienkirche, famous compositions and interesting facts about the history of the organ and its most important protagonists are presented in an entertaining and vivid way in the form of discussion concerts.

The organ expeditions are aimed at adults and children of school age and above who are interested in music.
