Learning to shape futures

This Open Lab evening is all about two particularly exciting tools from the world of digital production: the laser cutter and the 3D printer. You can get to know both machines, try them out, and create your own small projects – no prior knowledge required.

What can you expect?

The workshop is a drop-in event – meaning you can come anytime between 5 pm and 8 pm without prior registration. On-site, you'll have the opportunity to design your own projects, which can then be produced using a laser cutter or 3D printer. The workshop leader will support you and answer any questions you may have about materials, design, and production.

Whether you choose the laser cutter or 3D printer – develop your ideas, experiment, and create your own projects!

What can you expect?

The workshop is a drop-in event – meaning you can come along anytime between 5 pm and 8 pm without prior registration. Here's what you can do on-site:

-> Prepare, cut, and engrave your own designs for the laser cutter

-> Design your own objects with TinkerCAD and print them (where possible)

-> Try out and experiment with materials

-> Ask questions, try things out, and learn more

What you bring / What they provide:

-> Use of the laser cutter, 3D printer, and materials is free

-> Bringing your own laptop is helpful but not necessary – devices are available on-site

-> No prior knowledge is required – just drop by

Note: Production on the 3D printer and laser cutter takes longer. We'll give you an insight into the process, but we can't guarantee that all designs can be fully printed in the same evening.

What you'll learn:

-> What is a laser cutter? What is a 3D printer?

-> Which materials can be processed?

-> How do I create my own designs?

-> Practical Tips & Tricks
