Learning to shape futures
People cannot predict the future, but they can find out how they want to live in the future. This Open Lab evening will show you how to do this. Participants will learn about the "Futures Thinking" method. This is a combination of future research and design thinking. We will show you how to identify trends, evaluate them and combine them into desirable future scenarios.
WHAT IS AN OPEN LAB EVENING?
Every Thursday things get creative in the lab. You will learn about methods such as design thinking or future storytelling, you can try out 3D printers and laser cutters and take a look behind the scenes of the lab projects. There is something new every week.
Futures Thinking can be used in many different ways. For example, to develop an idea for a start-up, to decide on the right apprenticeship or to shine with new, exciting methods in the next university seminar.
In terms of content, participants will deal with the role of raw materials in the future. In everyday life, people deal with raw materials every day: they build houses from them, use their energy to power cars and machines, bake bread with them and use them for smartphones and computers. A world without raw materials is difficult to imagine. But people are facing major challenges: their need for raw materials is constantly increasing, mining is damaging nature and the environment, and many people suffer from the mining and unequal distribution of raw materials. And in the future?
This workshop deals with circular cities of the future:
- What will the city of the future look like?
- What materials will be used to build and how will they be recycled?
- How will the city infrastructure be used?
- Which places shape the cityscape?
The event is part of the workshop series "Learning to shape the future", which takes place once a month as part of the Open Lab evening. In a total of four modules, you will learn well-founded methods of shaping the future, which you can put together to create your own individual future method kit.
